Through classroom, group, and individual counseling, students are able to find coping strategies that will empower them to become happy, healthy children and productive, resilient adults later in life. We are building the foundation for future personal, academic, and career success at an early age!
Who is a School Social Worker?
A school social worker is a licensed professional who helps students succeed in school by addressing social, emotional, behavioral, and family challenges that may interfere with learning. They act as a bridge between school, home, and community resources.
Here are some of their key roles:
-
Student Support: Provide counseling for students dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, bullying, trauma, or family stress.
-
Academic Success: Help remove barriers that affect learning, such as attendance problems, homelessness, or lack of basic needs.
-
Crisis Intervention: Step in when there’s a crisis—like abuse, neglect, or a mental health emergency—and help keep students safe.
-
Family Engagement: Work with parents and caregivers to connect them with community resources (food, housing, mental health services, etc.) and improve family-school communication.
-
Collaboration: Partner with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to create supportive learning environments.
-
Advocacy: Ensure students’ voices are heard and that they have access to the support and opportunities they need.
In short, school social workers focus on the whole child—not just academics—helping students and families manage life challenges so kids can learn and thrive.

Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a priority when I meet with students because the relationships I build with my students are special and important in getting children the help they need regarding difficult topics. I will only notify you about what your student and I discuss if they disclose that
- the student is being hurt by someone
- the student is planning to hurt themselves
- the student is planning to hurt someone else OR
- the student has given me permission to share something with you.
